Chairperson; Vice-Chairperson; Powers and Duties


(1)

The Chairperson shall have the powers and duties established by law, and in addition, the powers and duties necessary for the performance of the office, as determined by the Governor. Such powers and duties shall include, but are not limited to:

(a)

Assigning Board members to panels and designating the presiding members in order to conduct hearings and reviews;

(b)

Apportioning matters for decision to the panels and Full Board;

(c)

Reassigning matters to different panels when required by rule, law, or procedure;

(d)

Scheduling business meetings and establishing the agenda; and

(e)

Informing the following persons of the scheduled release of each prisoner (ORS 144.120 (Initial parole hearing)(6), 144.260 (Notice of prospective release on parole or post-prison supervision)):

(A)

Victims who request notification;

(B)

The Department of Corrections;

(C)

Sentencing judge;

(D)

District Attorney;

(E)

Sheriff, or arresting agency.

(2)

The vice-chairperson shall have the powers and duties determined by the Governor to be necessary for the performance of the office.
