Emergency Leave and Supervised Trips - Authority, Purpose, and Policy

Authority: The authority for this rule is granted to the Director of the Department of Corrections in accordance with ORS 179.040 (General powers and duties), 421.166 (Emergency leave), 423.020 (Department of Corrections), 423.030 (Department not limited by ORS 423.020), and 423.075 (Director)

(2)

Purpose: To provide uniform procedures, standards, and guidelines for granting or denying emergency leave or supervised trips and to establish supervision standards for such leaves.

(3)

Policy: It is the policy of the Department of Corrections to allow inmates emergency leave or supervised trips from department facilities when circumstances indicate a leave or supervised trip would be in accordance with generally accepted correctional and rehabilitation practices.
