Revisions to Approved Routes


(1)

The Chief Engineer, or his designee, may add by written order additional state highways or sections thereof, and specify the type(s) of vehicle combinations allowed by these rules. In taking such action, the Chief Engineer:

(a)

Shall determine if the public interests will be served;

(b)

Shall determine that the movement can be made in safety; and

(c)

Shall have a trial test run conducted if he considers it appropriate.

(2)

The Chief Engineer may delete by written order certain highways or sections thereof and may limit the vehicle combinations allowed. Such action may be taken for reasons of safety. The Chief Engineer shall seek the concurrence of the Federal Highway Administration for those highways listed in Code of Federal Regulations Title 23, Part 658, Appendix A.
