Purpose of Authorized Duties and Standards

(1)

To identify the range of authorized duties which may be performed by the certified nursing assistant (CNA) and certified medication aide (CMA) in the process of assisting a licensed nurse;

(2)

To serve as a guide to the Board to evaluate safe and effective assistance in nursing care; and

(3)

To establish standards and conduct unbecoming for CNAs and CMAs.
