Insurance Coverage


(1) The promoter of an event must obtain:
(a) Short term medical benefit coverage for each amateur competitor participating in a bout in an amount not less than ten thousand dollars ($10,000), which shall provide for medical, surgical and hospital care for injuries sustained by the amateur unarmed combat sports competitor while participating in the bout;
(b) Accidental death benefit coverage for the amateur unarmed combat sports competitor participating in a bout in an amount not less than ten thousand dollars ($10,000), which shall be paid to the amateur unarmed combat sports competitor’s estate in the event of the amateur unarmed combat sports competitors death resulting from participation in the bout;
(c) Deductibles for the required medical and accidental death benefit coverage must be paid by the promoter;
(2) The promoter must submit proof to the AAO, by the deadline established by the AAO, that the required medical and accidental death benefit coverage required under this section has been obtained for each amateur unarmed combat sports competitor participating in a bout.
(3) This rule does not apply to amateur boxing sanctioned by USA Boxing.
