Adoption of Maps for the Purposes of Screening New Essential Facilities, Hazardous Facilities, Major Structures, and Special Occupancy Structures

In implementing the provisions of ORS 455.446 (Tsunami inundation zone) and 455.447 (Regulation of certain structures vulnerable to earthquakes and tsunamis), decisions of the board may be based upon a tsunami produced by a Cascadia subduction zone earthquake event of reasonable size, using current earthquake science, geologic science and modeling techniques.

In adopting maps of the tsunami inundation zone for the purposes of implementing ORS 455.446 (Tsunami inundation zone) and 455.447 (Regulation of certain structures vulnerable to earthquakes and tsunamis), making exceptions, and providing consultation, the board and department shall be guided by the principle of best available science.
