(1)

The Commission adopted the Black Bear Management Plan on July 17, 1987, and adopted the first revisions to the Plan on March 17, 1993. Copies of the Plan are available through the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. This document provides program direction, and identifies objectives and strategies to fulfill management, research, habitat, and status survey needs. The Plan is also intended as an informational document to assist resource management agencies with their wildlife programs.

(2)

To the extent practicable, at least once every five years the department shall review the black bear management plan and make recommendations to the Commission for any changes to the plan. Review of the plan should include incorporation of the best available science and should also seek comments from other scientific experts in Oregon and other western states.
