Adopted Oregon Elevator Specialty Code


(1)

Effective January 1, 2012, the 2011 Oregon Elevator Specialty Code is comprised of:

(a)

The Oregon Specialty Lift Code, 2005 edition; and

(b)

Four national model codes published by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), as amended by the Building Codes Division in OAR 918-400-0458 (Amendments to the Oregon Elevator Specialty Code), which are the:

(A)

Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators, ASME A17.1-2010;

(B)

Guide for Inspection of Elevators, Escalators and Moving Walks, ASME A17.2-2010;

(C)

Standard for Elevator Suspension, Compensation, and Governor Systems, ASME 17.6-2010;

(D)

Safety Standard for Platform Lifts and Stairway Chairlifts, ASME A18.1-2008; and

(E)

Safety Standard for Belt Manlifts, ASME A90.1-2009.

(a)

Referenced standards referred to within adopted national model codes shall recognize the latest Oregon adopted edition unless otherwise specified in this rule.

(b)

Notwithstanding any licensing or certification provisions contained in the model codes adopted in subsection (1) of this section for inclusion in the Oregon Elevator Specialty Code, the standards and requirements applicable to elevator business and trade licenses, as well as inspector certifications, issued by the Building Codes Division are established in ORS chapters 455, 460, and 479, and OAR chapter 918, divisions 30, 90, and 282.
