ORS 802.031
Designation of dealers and others as agents of department
(1)
Nothing in ORS 802.600 (Agreements to transact department business) prohibits the Department of Transportation from adopting rules to:(a)
Authorize persons to act as agents for the department for the purpose of issuing winter recreation parking permits.(b)
Designate vehicle dealers holding a valid certificate issued under ORS 822.020 (Issuance of certificate) or 822.040 (Privileges granted by certificate) to act as agents of the department for purposes of accepting documents and fees necessary to title and register any vehicle the vehicle dealer sells, or to perform other duties the department may authorize. Other duties may include, but need not be limited to:(A)
Issuing permits under ORS 803.600 (Trip permits) and 803.625 (Temporary registration permits issued by dealers); and(B)
Performing vehicle identification number inspections.(2)
A vehicle dealer designated under this section shall:(a)
Transmit title and registration documents with all required fees to the department within the time specified in ORS 822.042 (Procedures for transfer of interest in vehicle by vehicle dealer) and in accordance with any other applicable statutes or applicable rules adopted by the department.(b)
Maintain records as determined by the department to show compliance with this section and any rules adopted by the department. [1997 c.583 §10(2); 2017 c.172 §2]
