Definitions


For the purposes of the Nursing Services Program the following definitions shall be used:

(1)

“Commission” means the Higher Education Coordinating Commission.

(2)

“Nurse” means any person licensed under ORS 678.010 (Definitions for ORS 678.010 to 678.410) to 678.410 (Fees) as a Registered Nurse.

(3)

“Qualifying Loan” means any loan made under:

(a)

Programs under Title IV, Parts B, D, and E, of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended; and

(b)

The Nursing Student Loan Program and Health Education Assistance Loan Program administered by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

(4)

“Nursing critical shortage area” means a locality or practice specialty identified as such by the Oregon State Board of Nursing, in consultation with the Office Rural Health.

(5)

“Practice Full-Time” means professional employment as a nurse for no less than 32 working hours per week for no less than 48 weeks in a year (12 consecutive months).

(6)

“Practice Part-time” means professional employment as a nurse between 16 and 31 working hours per week for no less than 48 weeks in a year (12 consecutive months) or no less than 32 working hours per week for 24 weeks to 47 weeks in a year (12 consecutive months).
