Use of the “AIA” Acronym


In accordance with ORS 671.020 (Registration requirement)(1) & (6), 671.030 (Activities not considered as “practice of architecture”)(1), and 671.220 (Civil penalties)(5), the “AIA” acronym may be used to signify professional membership in the American Institute of Architects following the name of a person or entity, providing the person or entity using “AIA” is a member in good standing of the American Institute of Architects and is licensed or registered and in good standing in a jurisdiction recognized by the Board. No person or entity using the “AIA” designation may use it in a manner that misrepresents whether the person is licensed or the entity is registered by the Board to practice architecture in Oregon.
