General Requirements for All RGD: Operating and Emergency Procedures

(1) Operating and emergency procedures must include instructions in the following when required by the authority:

(a) Appropriate use of radiation machines so that no person is likely to be exposed to radiation doses in excess of the limits established in division 120;

(b) Methods and occasions for conducting radiation surveys;

(c) Methods for posting and controlling access to radiation areas;

(d) Individual monitoring program to include operations of the monitoring equipment;

(e) The inspection, maintenance, and operability checks of radiation machines and survey instruments;

(f) Steps that must be taken immediately by X-ray operators in the event a pocket dosimeter is found to be off-scale or electronic personal dosimeter reads greater than 2 milliseiverts (200mrem);

(g) The procedure(s) for identifying and reporting defects and noncompliance, as required by OAR 333-122-0230 (General Requirements for All RGD: Inspection and Maintenance of RGD X-ray Machines, Associated Equipment, and Survey Instruments);

(h) The procedure for notifying appropriate person(s) in the event of an accident or incident; and

(i) Maintenance of records.

(2) The registrant must maintain copies of current operating and emergency procedures in accordance with OAR 333-122-0151 (General Requirements for All RGD: Copies of Operating and Emergency Procedures), OAR 333-122-0251 (General Requirements for All RGD: Form of Records ) and OAR 333-122-0270 (General Requirements for All RGD: Location of Documents and Records).
