Operation and Maintenance


(1)

Operators of public spa pools shall be thoroughly knowledgeable on good practices of the spa operation and with the laws and rules pertaining to public spa pools. If, at any time, the spa meets one of the spa pool closure criteria in OAR 333-062-0255 (Spa Pool Closure Criteria) the spa pool license holder, operator, or responsible supervisor shall immediately close the spa to the public until the requirements are satisfied.

(a)

Operators of public spa pools shall keep records pertaining to the operation and maintenance of the pool which they operate;

(b)

Such records shall be maintained daily during periods when the pool is open, shall be retained by the operator and made available to the Division on request. All such records shall be retained for a period of two years;

(c)

Records shall include at least the following:

(A)

Results of the tests described in OAR 333-062-0165 (Spa Water Quality)(3);

(B)

Date and time of filter backwash;

(C)

Dates that the pool was emptied or cleaned;

(D)

Periods of recirculation equipment operation or malfunction and repair.

(d)

A recommended record keeping form is provided in Appendix A.

All parts and facilities of public spa pools and bathhouses shall be kept clean, in good repair and free of safety hazards.
