OAR 333-113-0115
Equipment Control: Radiation Survey Instruments

(1)

The licensee or registrant must maintain sufficient calibrated and operable radiation survey instruments, capable of detecting beta and gamma radiation, at each field station and temporary jobsite to make physical radiation surveys as required by this division and by OAR 333-120-0200 (Surveys and Monitoring: General). Instrumentation must be capable of measuring 0.001 mSv (0.1 mrem) per hour through at least 0.5 mSv (50 mrem) per hour.

(2)

Each radiation survey instrument must be calibrated:

(a)

At intervals not to exceed six months and after each instrument servicing;

(b)

For linear scale measurements, at least two points located approximately 13 and 23 of full-scale on each scale; for logarithmic scale instruments, at midrange of each decade and at two points of at least one decade; and for digital instruments, at appropriate points; and

(c)

So that accuracy within 20 percent of the true radiation level can be demonstrated on each scale.

(3)

Calibration records must be maintained in accordance with 333-100-0057 (Maintenance of Records).
