Certification of Process Piping Inspectors


(1)

Applicants for process piping inspector shall submit an application on division-supplied forms along with a $110 application fee. The applicant shall pass a division-approved examination on the substance and requirements of ASME B31.3, related standards and administrative rules.

(2)

Applicants shall demonstrate to the satisfaction of the division not less than 10 years experience in the design, fabrication or inspection of industrial process piping. Each 20 percent of satisfactorily completed work toward an engineering degree recognized by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology shall be considered equivalent to one year of experience, up to five years total.

The board may consider other experience and education to determine if the experience is equivalent to the requirements in this rule.

(4)

Process piping inspector certificate of competency shall be renewed annually. The annual renewal fee shall be $27.50.
