Preamble

A physician assistant is a person qualified by education, training, experience, and personal character to provide medical services under the direction and supervision of a physician licensed under ORS 677.100 to 677.228 (Automatic lapse of license for failure to pay registration fee or report change of location), or a podiatric physician and surgeon licensed under ORS 677.805 (“Ankle” defined for ORS 677.805 to 677.840) to 677.840 (Fees), in active practice and in good standing with the Board. The purpose of the physician assistant program is to enable physicians licensed under ORS 677 to extend high quality medical care to more people throughout the state.

The licensed physician or podiatric physician and surgeon is in all cases regarded as the supervisor of the physician assistant.
