English to Speakers of Other Languages


(1)

English to Speakers of Other Languages Endorsement: An English to Speakers of Other Languages Endorsement (ESOL) on a license indicates that the educator is licensed to teach prekindergarten through grade 12 assignments in ESOL as provided by the TSPC Licensure Guide for ESOL.

(2)

An educator is not authorized to teach in the endorsed area unless and until the endorsement is officially added to the license, except as provided in OAR 584-210-0170 (Atypical Assignments), Atypical Assignments and OAR 584-210-0160 (License for Conditional Assignment), License on Conditional Assignment.

Adding to an ESOL Endorsement: To be eligible to add an English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) endorsement to an existing Preliminary, Professional or Teacher Leader, or Legacy Teaching license, an applicant must:

(a)

Be admitted to and complete a Commission-approved ESOL program that meets the standards provided in OAR 584-420-0360 (English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL): Program Standards) ESOL: Program Standards; and

(b)

Submit a complete and correct application to obtain the endorsement in the form and manner required by the Commission, including payment of all required fees as provided in OAR 584-200-0050 (Fees).
Note: Adding the endorsement at the time of renewal will not require an additional cost to add the licensure renewal process.
