(1)
As used in this section:(a)
“Car rental company” has the meaning given that term in ORS 803.219 (Limitation on car rental fees).(b)
“Integrator” has the meaning given that term in ORS 802.600 (Agreements to transact department business).(2)
If the Department of Transportation receives an application for vehicle registration from a car rental company that was submitted to an integrator and the application does not include the primary ownership record for the motor vehicle, the department may issue registration plates for the vehicle if the conditions described in subsection (3) of this section are met.(3)
Before the department may issue registration plates under subsection (2) of this section, a car rental company must:(a)
Possess a valid Oregon vehicle dealer certificate issued or renewed under ORS 822.020 (Issuance of certificate) or 822.040 (Privileges granted by certificate);(b)
Certify that the car rental company has not received the primary ownership record for the vehicle as of the date the application is submitted; and(c)
Meet any other requirements adopted by the department by rule.(4)
In addition to any fee for registration or issuance of registration plates, the department may charge a fee for providing the services authorized by this section. The department shall establish the amount of the fee by rule.(5)
The department shall adopt rules to carry out the provisions of this section. [2019 c.348 §2]
