Acceptance or rejection of payments by court administrator

The court administrator is not liable for accepting any amount of payment under a writ of garnishment, including any payment that is sent to the court administrator in error or any payment that exceeds the amount required to satisfy the garnishment.

The court administrator may return to the garnishee any payment received from the garnishee unless the garnishee has delivered a garnishee response to the court in the manner required by ORS 18.690 (Delivery of garnishee response) or has provided a statement to the court administrator that the payment is a voluntary payment on behalf of the debtor to be applied toward satisfaction of the garnishment or is a payment under another law or court order that requires or allows the garnishee to pay money to the court.
