Fluoroscopic X-ray Systems Requirements: Fluoroscopic Source-to-Skin Distance


The source-to-skin distance shall not be less than:

(1)

38 cm on stationary fluoroscopes manufactured on or after August 1, 1974;

(2)

35.5 cm on stationary fluoroscopes manufactured prior to August 1, 1974;

(3)

30 cm on all mobile fluoroscopes; and

(4)

20 cm for image intensified fluoroscopes used for specific surgical application. The written safety procedures must provide precautionary measures to be adhered to during the use of this device.
