Application of district petition requirements to cities

The procedures and requirements regarding the preparation, circulation and filing of a petition in a district under ORS 198.705 (Definitions for ORS 198) to 198.955 (Disposition of assets) apply to the preparation, circulation and filing of a petition in a city, except that the duties of the secretary of the district board as described in ORS 198.765 (Requirements for filing petition) and 198.770 (Method of determining validity of landowner signatures) shall be performed by the elections officer of the city. The governing body of a city shall perform the duties of the district board in ORS 198.705 (Definitions for ORS 198) to 198.955 (Disposition of assets) in regard to a petition filed with the city.
