Police Standards and Training Account
(1)
There is established in the General Fund of the State Treasury the Police Standards and Training Account. All contributions or other moneys received by the Board on Public Safety Standards and Training or Department of Public Safety Standards and Training shall be paid into the State Treasury and credited to the Police Standards and Training Account. All moneys in the Police Standards and Training Account are appropriated continuously to the department and, except as provided in subsection (2) of this section, shall be used by the department to carry out the functions of the department under the policies and standards for training and certification approved by the board.(2)
Moneys in the Police Standards and Training Account may be transferred to the Department of State Police and the Department of Corrections to defray the training costs of police officers and parole and probation officers and to defray the cost of the Law Enforcement Data System. The amounts transferred under this subsection shall be deposited in the cash accounts of such agencies in accordance with an allotment plan approved by the Oregon Department of Administrative Services.(3)
Notwithstanding subsection (1) of this section, moneys credited to the account under ORS 181A.890 (Disposition of funds received by department) and 703.490 (Moneys credited to Police Standards and Training Account) may be used only for the expenses of administration and enforcement of ORS 181A.840 (Definitions for ORS 181A.360, 181A.840 to 181A.893, 181A.895 and 181A.995) to 181A.893 (Restrictions on entities employing private security providers), 181A.995 (Penalties relating to regulation of private security), 703.401 (Definitions) to 703.490 (Moneys credited to Police Standards and Training Account), 703.993 (Criminal penalties for investigators) and 703.995 (Civil penalties for investigators).
