Alternative Placements and Supplementary Aids and Services

School districts must ensure that a continuum of alternative placements is available to meet the needs of children with disabilities for special education and related services. The continuum must:


Include as alternative placements, instruction in regular classes, special classes, special schools, home instruction and instruction in hospitals and institutions;


Make provision for supplementary aids and services (such as resource room or itinerant instruction) to be provided in conjunction with regular class placement; and


Not include sheltered workshops as defined in OAR 581-015-2000 (Definitions)(34) and 407-025-0010 (Definitions)(16)
